Ethan Mercer came up to Quartz Butte to be alone with what happened on Poison Grade — with Marco, with Bird, with the burnover he walked out of and they did not. The tower has a radio and the radio has a voice on it: Ian Ostrand, over at Lookout 43 on Bell Creek Butte, good company on a long night.
Bell Creek Butte burned in a lightning strike in 1967. There has been no tower there for a very long time. There is still somebody in it.
